✓ Ann Arbor Probility Marathon, Mi (March)
The marathon starts just outside one of Ann Arbor’s landmarks, the University of Michigan Stadium ("The Big House"). The run navigates through the downtown, Nichols Arboretum, and Gallup Park twice with a full 26.2 mile finish on Main Street.
✓ AFF/IAD Ground School, Tecumseh, Mi (April)
Accelerated Freefall (AFF) is the most modern method of skydive training. After logging 25 jumps [ongoing], and demonstrating safety and flight skills it's possible to take the USPA "A" License examination for solo skydiving.
✓ Intl. Conference for Advanced Neurotechnology, Freiburg, Germany (June)
ICAN is an inaugural conference to bring engineers and neuroscientists together to review the recent advancement in neurotechnology and neuroscience, define the need for next-generation tools to move neuroscience forward, and enhance translation of technology to science community. I will present my poster, Functional and Anatomical Properties of Distinct Neuronal Populations in the Motor Thalamus.
✓ Mont blanc—Matterhorn, France & Switzerland (July)
From Mont Blanc in Chamonix to the Matterhorn in Zermatt via the Haute Route. Over 150 km through 10 of the 12 highest mountains in the Alps, I'll be field testing a novel handheld diagnostic tool I designed to measure critical flicker fusion threshold. My aim is to establish a quantitative method of assessing central fatigue during high altitude exposure.

This second annual event by Team Fox Detroit benefits The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research. The morning research salon provides an update to the programs and initiatives of the foundation. The evening gala brings together scientists and benefactors to raise money to speed a cure.

The University of Michigan Udall Center of Excellence for Parkinson’s Disease Research is an integrated, multidisciplinary research program focused on development of new clinical treatments and therapeutic approaches to Parkinson's disease. On Tuesday Sept 13, I will give a presentation entitled, Beyond the Relay Towards Pathway-Specific Optogenetics in the Motor Thalamus.
✓ Thru the Leaves Ultra 50K Trail Race, Rochester Hills, MI (October)
This trail race is held at Bloomer Park and totals 50 km (30.07 mi) with roughly 730 meters of total elevation gain.
Ann Arbor Health Hacks, High altitude happy hour, MI (October)
A2H2 started as a passion project between four Ann Arborites interested in solving problems in healthcare and bringing the community together to do it. Leading up to the 2018 Health Hackathon, I will give a talk on October 26 at 6PM, Undressing at High Altitude: And other paradoxes of extreme situations.
A New Space Age, SEattle, WA (November)
I will join the Economist Event's inaugural global Space Summit that focuses on the future of human space exploration. It will gather chief executives, thinkers, policymakers and disruptive entrepreneurs from all over the world to debate what technological advances will further progress in space. How can space technology help manage disasters and conflicts? And what future challenges are in store for the exploration of space?
